You know it’s been a long time since your last post when …

You have to log back in to WordPress, and you’ve forgotten your password. Tenth time’s the charm :-)

I normally have WP remember me and Firefox remember my password. That doesn’t do much good when the toddler decides your laptop is a fun thing to throw. Surprisingly, the tot survived. The laptop, though, needed a new hard drive.

Anybody know of a good network-bootable/installable Linux distribution? I hacked my own FreeBSD one, but am thinking of dual-booting with a “just Fscking works” linux distribution for when I’m feeling less adventurous… The laptop doesn’t have an internal CD, I’ve lost my USB CD, and struck out trying to boot from one of those snazzy pen drives.

    I don’t know about Linux, but if you wanted to boot from a USB CD-ROM, I have one that I’d be glad to bring you so that you could get something installed.

    Thanks for the offer, but I’ve borrowed one from work. (A CD/DVD combo, along with an FC6 installation DVD :-)

    Part of the draw for Linux is getting a working flash plugin so I can enjoy sites like yours, hopefully with minimal futzing. I’ve already sunk an evening of tinkering trying again to get the USB key with damn small linux to boot. No dice, through futzing.

    Once again, technology defeats me :-(

    Anyway, to get flash working, I suggest using the linux-firefox port with the linux-flash plugin. It works about as well as can be expected on FreeBSD.

    There’s probably a wordpress plugin for that :-)

    And I’ll give the linux-firefox stuff a try.
